Georgia DNR Planning "Bush Head Shoals ATV Park"

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is planning to build an Bush Head Shoals ATV Park in Heard County, about 4 miles NE of Franklin, GA.  This is an absolute first for the Georgia DNR and Parks system,

i.e. to build an ATV park.  To date, the only entities that have provided off-road recreational parks in Georgia have been the US Forest Service and privately held land owners.  The current plan will include 14+ miles of ATV trails (all one-way), a boat launch for small boats and canoes, and camping facilities.  The plan is to make this a family friendly destination.  There is still much to do though.  The GA DNR will be engaging the local community near the site through a series to public meetings, tbd.  GARTRA is very excited to see this initiative.  This may only be the first of more to come.
